PTS Celebrates National Apprenticeship Week 2020
03 February 2020Port Training Services is this week celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2020, as we recognise the achievements of trainees right across the Blyth estuary.
As a key part of the Port of Blyth, a long time advocate of the apprenticeship route into work for young people, we provide opportunities for apprenticeships through the Government’s Find an Apprenticeship portal.
What’s more, we support the skills agenda at port’s around the country via our range of port related apprenticeships and training programmes.
Rebecca Howard is a Business Administration Apprentice with PTS and has spoken about her experience to date, she said: “I’ve really enjoyed my apprenticeship so far and have learnt so much. Being trained whilst I’m in a job is fantastic because it means I can develop skills and experience quicker than if I stayed in education. Everything I’m learning on the job is going to help me in the future”.
The theme of this year’s Apprenticeship Week is ‘Look Beyond’ which celebrates the diversity and the value that apprenticeships bring to employers, apprentices and communities. Look Beyond will encourage individuals and organisations across the apprenticeship community to unite and showcase the true meaning of diversity within apprenticeships:
- For young people – Look beyond traditional routes into employment and explore the variety of roles and career opportunities through apprenticeships.
- For employers – Look beyond traditional hiring routes and highlight the value they see from diversifying the workforce by employing apprentices.
- For parents and schools – Look beyond old preconceptions around apprenticeships and promote greater awareness of the true value they bring.
National Apprenticeship Week runs from 3-7 February 2020.
