About us

Mission

As the training division of the Port of Blyth, Port Training Services (PTS) were originally conceived to ensure the Port’s own staff were trained with the necessary skills, qualifications and competency to deliver the Port’s services both safely and effectively.  Today, PTS strive to deliver high quality practical and vocational training so that delegates leave us better prepared to make their working environment both safer and more productive.

What we do

Port Training Services (PTS) is a specialist training provider delivering fully accredited, industry recognised qualifications for companies and individuals serving the Port & Marine, Warehousing & Logistics, Heavy Industry, Subsea and Offshore Energy sectors. We offer a high quality, cost effective and professional service that is focused on improving the knowledge, skills and competence of your workforce, whilst always prioritising the importance of safer working environments.

Where we work

As the training division of the Port of Blyth, PTS currently operates from a facility within the Port’s South Harbour Terminal. As one of the fastest developing Trust Ports in the UK, the Port of Blyth has a renowned reputation as a major support base for the Offshore Energy sector and as a result PTS service many clients whose personnel work offshore. Plant, industrial and health & safety related qualifications are always in high demand.

Superb location

Based at the Port of Blyth, PTS offers delegates everything they need to successfully complete their training. Theory sessions take place in well-appointed classrooms while practical sessions take place in our purpose built training warehouse or safe, real-world outdoor environments. With excellent local facilities available such as an independent hotel, restaurant and onsite parking, coupled with excellent road, rail and air links, training at PTS couldn’t be simpler.

Accreditations

With safety and competence at its heart, PTS has worked tirelessly with national accrediting bodies and industry associations to develop and deliver a range of national vocational qualifications and apprenticeship standards.

Safeguarding

PTS recognise that young people and adults need to be protected from potential abuse and radicalisation and as such that all members of staff and learners have a role to play in safeguarding the welfare of young people and adults and preventing their abuse. As part of the Induction Process PTS are committed to identifying learners who may be at risk or have additional needs to ensure they are offered additional support.
