Meet our Business Admin Apprentice, Jayden Herron!
05 February 2024With it being National Apprenticeship Week, we thought we would shine some spotlight on our Business Admin Apprentice, Jayden Herron and ask him a few questions about his role.
What does your role involve at Port Training Services (PTS)?
Within my role, I complete various administrative tasks including answering the phones, replying to email enquiries, ensuring all paperwork for our training courses is ready to be completed and that there is a notification for the course on NPORS. Once the course is complete, I submit the paperwork to NPORS and order NPORS cards for all delegates as proof of certification for the course that they have completed. Additionally, I support the apprenticeship side of PTS by making sure learner records are up-to-date and folders for each learner have been made.
What made you choose to do the Business Admin apprenticeship at Port Training Services?
It is an interesting industry and being able to learn and earn at the same time appealed to me as it meant I could gain a very useful qualification, whilst working for a reputable business and earning a salary. Being able to work across several departments was great as it meant I could explore which career path I might like to pursue in the future.
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling on a similar apprenticeship?
I think that this is a great way to get your foot in the door and experience different aspects of a business, gaining invaluable work experience. One piece of advice I would give is to always ask questions, don’t think you are being stupid, this is your chance to learn!
