NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Stevedoring Essentials
The aim of this course is to provide the theoretical knowledge and practical skills and processes of Stevedoring in the loading and unloading of ships’ cargo.
Purpose
To enable learners to achieve industry standards as set out by Ports Skills & Safety (PSS) and be equipped to progress their career in the port sector.
Content
This qualification is recognised as the technical certificate as part of the Port Operations apprenticeship. The qualification features ten mandatory units:
- Health & Safety in ports
- Working relationships
- Cargo storage
- Slinging and signalling
- Manual handling
- Vessel operations
- Emergency first aid
This qualification is vocational based and is assessed through a portfolio of evidence. Learners must have the potential to achieve the assessment criteria set out in the units.
